Pain and biomechanics of osteoarthritis of the knee joint - Keith K W Chan

(Medical Tribune October, 2008)

According to a local cross-sectional study by the Hong Kong Institute of Musculoskeletal Medicine (HKIMM) in 2007...

95% of the patients with osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee do not have signs of inflammation and their knee pain mainly arises from biomechanical derangements in the joint. Primary care practitioners should focus on correcting these biomechanical derangements for effective management of the OA knee patients.
