Dr. Andrew Kit-kuen Ip

Dr. Ip graduated from University of Hong Kong in 1980. He has been in general practice since 1984. He obtained fellowship of the Hong Kong College of Family Physicians (HKCFP) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1991. He became a fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Family Medicine) in 1995. He completed the Master program of Sports and Exercise Medicine of University of Bath in 2006 and the Postgraduate Diploma in Musculoskeletal Medicine of University of Otago in 2008. He has been actively involved in training and education of general practitioners since 1992. He had chaired the Board of Education, Professional Performance Committee and Quality Assurance & Accreditation Committee of HKCFP. He had also chaired the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (HKAM) Sub-committee of CME programme for doctors who do not take the Specialist CME programme. Dr. Ip is Past President of the Hong Kong College of Family Physicians. He is a member of President Advisory Committee. He is now the President of Hong Kong Institute of Musculoskeletal Medicine. He is appointed Honorary Clinical Associate Professor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is a registered specialist in family medicine with special interest in sports medicine and musculoskeletal medicine in active practice.

Experience in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound training included attended over 100 hours of hands on training from AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ trainer. He had passed the first RMSK examination and awarded the status of registered in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound by ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasonography) in 2012. He had performed over five hundred reported diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound. In addition, he had performed over five hundred ultrasound guided musculoskeletal injections. Site of injections included peripheral joints, spinal joints and hydrodissection of nerves. He started to use platelet rich plasma (mostly prepared by the Biomet GPS system) in 2011. He had performed over 300 platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections. He had actively involved in teaching of musculoskeletal medicine as well as musculoskeletal ultrasound.
