Objective
The Certificate Course of Practical Musculoskeletal Medicine (CPMM) is aimed at medical practitioners who are interested to provide primary health care to patients with musculoskeletal problems. The program is developed towards provision of a comprehensive, clinical oriented, hand skills based, musculoskeletal management. The essential components of the program include overview of clinical anatomy and biomechanics, focus physical examination, manual skills and comprehensive management planning. Participants will learn solid hand skills on soft tissue physical therapy, manipulations, and injection treatments. This program will be taught in well scheduled workshops over two years. On completion of this program, participants will be able to manage common musculoskeletal problems.
 
Course Structure
The whole course will consist of six modules. Certificate of attendance of each module will be awarded to those who have attended all the workshops and lectures of the module. The Certificate will be awarded to students who had completed all the six modules within two years. Each module consisted of self-directed studies and 18 hours of on-site teaching. On-site teaching is composed of three half-days (6 hours) teaching. Each module is expected to be completed in four month.

Modules of Certificate of Practical Musculoskeletal Medicine

Module 1: Knee and Hip
Date: September 2016
Content: Anatomy of knee and hip joints, physical examination of knee and hip joints, manual therapy of knee and hip problems, ultrasound of knee and hip joints and the clinical uses.
 
Module 2: Ankle and Foot
Date: January 2017
Content: Anatomy and musculoskeletal examination of ankle and foot joints, gait and foot assessment, lower limbs biomechanics assessment, manual therapy of ankle and foot joints, orthotic prescriptions.
 
Module 3: Shoulder & Upper Limbs
Date: May 2017
Content: Anatomy and Biomechanics of shoulder elbow and wrist, musculoskeletal examination of each joints, manual treatment of shoulder, elbow and wrist problems, introduction to shoulder , elbow and wrist ultrasound.
 
Module 4: Thoracic Spine and Ribs
Date: September 2017
Content: Anatomy and biomechanics of thoracic spine and ribs, focused musculoskeletal examinations of the spine, Basic of spinal manual therapy, muscle  energy techniques and high velocity low amplitude (HVLA) treatment, concept & treatment of trigger points.
 
Module 5: Lumbosacral Spine and Pelvic
Date: January 2018
Content: Anatomy of lumbar, sacrum and pelvic, musculoskeletal examination of lumbar and sacrum, common back pain and referral pain syndrome, mobilization and HVLA of lumbosacral dysfunction, core muscles training and rehabilitation.
 
Module 6: Cervical Spine
Date: May 2018
Content: Anatomy and musculoskeletal examination of cervical spine, trigger points over cervical region, understandings various causes of headache and facial pain, mobilization of cervical spine and rehabilitation.


Admission requirements:
Registered medical doctors at the place of practice
Doctors with special interest in musculoskeletal medicine
